MP PAYS TRIBUTE TO A "STALWART OF THE COMMUNITY"
A Local MP has paid tribute to a local Labour Party member - Mrs Noel Hughes from Bangor Road, Johnstown - who passed away recently, at the grand age of 102 years old.
Paying tribute, Martyn Jones MP said:
"Mrs Hughes had been a loyal Labour Party Member for over half a century. She was a highly respected and staunch socialist who believed in opportunity for everyone.
"She was passionate about education and had a long association with Johnstown school, and also served on the Governing Bodies of Ysgol Ruabon and Ysgol y Wern."
"Until her latter years she maintained an active interest in the Labour Party and politics in general. She had a deep concern for the local community - and in particular Johnstown.
"Mrs Hughes was one of a rare breed and will be remembered with a great deal of respect and affection by all those who knew her."
