MARTYN JONES MP WORKS WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WALES ON DENNIS RUABON

Today Martyn Jones MP raised the issue of Dennis Ruabon Tile Factory in the St David’s Day Debate on the floor of the House of Commons. He posed a question to Paul Murphy, the newly appointed Secretary of State in which he raised the matter of 68 factory workers being made redundant with very few details of their chances of re-employment with the company. Mr Jones asked the Secretary to work with him and Wrexham Council to attempt to ascertain the exact situation at the factory for the benefit of its employees and the local community. Mr Murphy said he would be willing to lend his help to the current situation.

Mr Jones commented: “I am pleased that the company has at least begun to speak to the local council but serious questions are still to be answered. Will the tile factory element of the business be continued, will the company be rehiring any of its workers. Is there any prospect of the company stripping its assets?”

Mr Jones has met with legal advisors and Union workers and will continue to do so on this subject.
