MARTYN JONES MP SPEAKS OUT ON DENNIS RUABON SALE

Martyn Jones MP today commented on the purported sale of Dennis Ruabon Tile Factory earlier this week. Mr Jones stated that he had thus far been unimpressed with the nature of the sale. He spoke of a complete lack of transparency and demanded that local people be given the details they were entitled to.

Mr Jones commented:

“Local people have no idea who has bought the company and local workers have no clue as to their future. It is time somebody gave us and the workers of Dennis Ruabon some details.

It’s simply not fair to leave people who have worked for this company stranded for this period of time. What on Earth is going on? The old owners of this company owe their loyal staff an explanation.

I reiterate the point I made that I am glad a buyer has been found for the company. This could be great news. However all this secrecy surrounding the sale is filling no one with any kind of confidence. It’d be fantastic if this sale did result in the preservation of at least some worker’s jobs. But even if it cannot, this company and its new owners have a duty to the local area to act in an ethical manner. I hope very much that we will not see an episode of soulless asset stripping that fails to take into account the needs of the local community.”
