MARTYN JONES MP EXPLORES THE DRUGS DEBATE

Today Martyn Jones MP attended an International Parliamentary Conference on tackling drugs and problems that drug abuse creates. Issues explored included criminal activity caused by drug abuse, breaking the cycle of addiction and the best way to rehabilitate those convicted of drug-related crimes.

Mr Jones issued the following statement following the Conference:

“Everyone in today’s society knows that drug abuse is a major problem. Events like this, as well as open discussions about the nature of the problem and how best to tackle it, are vital.

I have long been considering the issues of the UK drug problem and how best to tackle it. I have said before that we need to consider all the options if we are to succeed in a war on drugs. That is something that I reiterate today having listened and taken part in a frank and open debate on all the issues.”
