LOCAL MP's CRACKDOWN ON ROGUE EMPLOYERS
Clwyd South MP, MARTYN JONES has today launched a campaign to stop unscrupulous employers getting an unfair advantage by breaking minimum wage law.
The MP is asking anyone who is paid under the minimum wage, to report such employers for paying illegally low wages.
Martyn Jones MP said,
"Nearly every business in Clwyd South does exactly what's required by law - but I'm determined to make sure no one tries to make an unfair profit by trying to dodge the minimum wage."
"I've spent 20 years in Parliament campaigning for a Labour Government to bring in a minimum wage, and keep on increasing it up to £5.35 an hour - helping 80,000 workers across Wales.
"I've no intention of letting anyone get away with paying illegally low wages in Clwyd South."
"With new powers announced today, employers that refuse to pay up can end up with a criminal record and a £5,000 fine.
"If you know someone who isn't getting what they're owed, make sure they get in touch with me on 01978 845938 or call the National Minimum Wage Hotline on 0845 6000 678.
